The full-day training session was delivered by Jifry Issadeen, Managing Director and Corporate Trainer at Jobbees Business Academy and LearnNow.lk. The programme was designed to strengthen participants’ practical Excel skills, with particular emphasis on advanced filtering and lookup techniques.

The first half of the programme focused on filtering and data extraction. Rather than limiting the session to Excel’s standard Filter command, participants were introduced to a wider range of modern tools and functions, including:

  • Advanced filtering techniques
  • The FILTER function
  • SORT and SORTBY
  • CHOOSECOLS and CHOOSEROWS
  • Dynamic extraction and organization of data
  • Practical combinations of sorting and filtering functions

These topics helped participants understand how Excel can be used to retrieve, reorganize and analyse information more efficiently—particularly when working with large datasets.

The second half of the programme focused on lookup techniques. Participants received practical training on:

  • VLOOKUP
  • XLOOKUP
  • INDEX and MATCH
  • Using FILTER as a lookup and data-retrieval solution

The concepts were taught through practical demonstrations and exercises, enabling participants to understand not only how each function works, but also when and why it should be used.

The participants proved to be a highly capable and enthusiastic group. Their eagerness to learn, active participation and thoughtful questions made the programme especially engaging and rewarding.

The learning environment and hospitality at the National Police Academy were equally impressive. From the moment of arrival, the respect, professionalism and care extended to visiting lecturers and trainers were exceptional. Every aspect of the programme was thoughtfully coordinated, creating a welcoming and highly professional atmosphere.

During the visit, Jifry Issadeen also had the privilege of meeting a Deputy Inspector General of Police whose friendly approach and strong vision for improving the knowledge and professional capabilities of police personnel were truly encouraging. Such commitment to continuous learning and development can make a meaningful contribution to the future transformation of the Sri Lanka Police.

LearnNow.lk is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important initiative. We are also pleased that Jifry Issadeen has been invited to support future training programmes at the Academy.

We look forward to continuing our contribution to government institutions by sharing practical, modern and workplace-relevant knowledge in Microsoft Excel and other areas of professional development.
